Dr. Amro Elshurafa is the executive director of Utilities and Renewables at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is a senior energy and electricity advisor with 20+ years of experience garnered on three continents. Credited with 50+ papers and patents, he is listed among the top 2% of scientists globally as per the Stanford/Elsevier Ranking. He has led and executed several national modeling initiatives at the distributed- and utility-scales. Some aspects of his research have been adopted by BP in creating their seminal annual statistical review. He is also a board member of the Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority. He holds a PhD in engineering and an MBA in finance.
