Alexandre Eykerman was excited to be involved in the creation of Wärtsilä’s vision, the path to a 100% renewable energy future. Although reaching this goal requires a major transformation, Alexandre and his team can, already today, provide feasible options for cleaner energy in the Middle East.

As Energy Business Director for Wärtsilä in the Middle East, Alexandre works tirelessly to help customers unlock the full potential of the region’s vast renewable energy sources. The region’s business models for the sector are changing, with sustainability, decarbonisation, and new energy economics creating unique opportunities for each nation.

Regardless of how far along the path towards cleaner energy each of the region’s countries is, Alexandre’s team facilitates and speeds the journey. Alexandre is an enabler, always ready to help his customers take the next step towards this destination. One such major energy project led recently by the team is the 44 MW Mansourah-Massarah hybrid power plant project in Saudi Arabia. This project will maximize the use of solar PV, thereby minimising both fossil fuel use and emissions.

Overall in life, Alexandre focuses on the positives – an attitude he has learnt while golfing. If one only sees the golf course’s hazards – the pond, the rough, the bunker, the ball will most likely end up there. Instead, Alexandre always keeps his eye on the target – which makes him both a visionary leader and a pretty good golfer; his handicap is +1 and he has golfed in more than 25 countries. In addition, he speaks several languages fluently, including French, German, English and Swedish.
