Carl Clayton is a Core Member of Boston Consulting Group’s Climate & Sustainability Practice in Dubai, specializing in Energy Transition and Decarbonization for the Power & Utilities sector. Carl is a BCG global co-leader for CCUS & Carbon Management topics.
Carl’s expertise covers Environmental & Carbon Markets, Carbon Capture & Storage, Carbon Removal Technologies, Blue Hydrogen & Derivatives, Biofuels & Biomass Feedstocks and other Low Carbon Technology Solutions.
Carl works with national oil companies, global energy firms and government agencies across GCC, Europe, APAC and Africa on large-scale strategy and transformation. He supports clients with definition of sustainable strategies & business models, design of carbon trading frameworks, sustainable financing, climate policy & regulatory design and strategic partnerships & ventures development
Before joining BCG, he worked in the Drax Group as a head of BECCS and CCS strategy lead. Carl is a Chartered Engineer, holding an MBA from University of Warwick and MSc from the University of Derby.
