
H.E. Amal Mint Maouloud

Mauritania
H.E. Amal Maouloud is the Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. She brings extensive experience in engineering, public infrastructure, and energy policy.
Born in Brussels in 1983, she graduated in 2006 with an engineering degree in Fluid Mechanics and Energy from the National Higher School of Arts and Crafts (École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers), University of Paris 6. She also holds a Master’s degree in Information and Innovation Management (2007–2008), complementing her technical background with managerial expertise.
Throughout her career, she has held several high-level public and private sector positions, including:
• Minister of Housing, Urban Development, and Land Management (2016–2018)
• Minister of Equipment and Transport (2018–2019)
• Director General of Mauritania Airlines (2019–2021)
• International Consultant in the Energy Sector (2021–2024)
Earlier in her career, she worked as a project engineer at EDF (Electricité de France), the National Agency for Renewable Energies (ANADER), and the Mauritanian Electricity Company (SOMELEC).
Her Excellency is widely respected for her contributions to sustainable development, infrastructure reform, and institutional modernization in Mauritania.
