Director - Global Water Practice
Ricardo plc

Will is a founder and Director of Aither (a Ricardo company) and leads Ricardo’s Global Water, Land and Air Practice.

Starting in 2012, Will grew Aither into a leading water advisory firm, growing a specialised team to service government and corporate clients in over 15 countries. He is now responsible for growing Ricardo’s global water business.

Will has over 20 years’ experience working for and with governments on water strategy, policy, regulation, and governance. He is a skilled communicator and facilitator with an affinity for bringing senior decision-makers to the table to identify joint solutions and drive improved outcomes.

Will has facilitated high-level water dialogues with ministers and leaders from governments and businesses across Australia, Central and South Asia, the Middle East, and North America. He has spearheaded multiple national-level dialogues and strategy development initiatives under WaterGuide, a framework he co-authored for the World Bank and United Nations High-Level Panel on Water. This has included work in Jordan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Mexico and Senegal to help scope and drive national water reform priorities and initiatives.

Before co-founding Aither in 2012, Will spent seven years at Australia's National Water Commission, including three as a General Manager. He provided leadership across the organisation as part of the senior executive team, was responsible for strategic and operational leadership of rural and urban water policy, and led the National Water Initiative work program on water markets and trading.

Will’s blend of private and public sector experience provides him with a strong grasp of how to identify water sector priorities and how to drive implementation to deliver results.

Will is a Churchill Fellow, a member of the Australasian Journal of Water Resources Editorial Panel, and a past member of the Expert Panel overseeing Australia’s National Infrastructure Plan.
