Ensuring clean technology adoption with transparency of supply chains

Innovation Showcase

Investments in clean, renewable energy, often paired with co-location and battery storage, uniquely benefit those pursuing Net Zero strategies. Market participants must ensure their commodities meet local and international standards, both locally and internationally. When green energy is used to produce hydrogen (H2), its value significantly increases due to higher commercial demand and additional production costs. Certification using Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) ensures that throughout the commodity's lifecycle, immutable protection is provided from non-clean alternatives that will reduce its value. For exported H2, certification is crucial for ensuring both export and import standards are complied with, creating easy importation.

Next Generation Advanced Conductors

The story of conductor evolution is a century of innovation with each iteration addressing the limitations of its predecessor. In 1908, ACSR was introduced with a steel core and hardened aluminum strands. Temperature constraints limited capacity, prompting a search for higher temperature capabilities. The 1970s saw ACSS with stronger steel and annealed aluminum, enabling higher temperatures but suffering from excessive sag, leading to a search for low-sag solutions. The 1990s brought the first generation of advanced conductors with composite cores that achieved high ampacity and low sag. They faced installation problems and longevity concerns that set off a search for safety and reliability. In 2016, TS Conductor's Aluminum Encapsulated Carbon Core (AECC) marked the next generation of advanced conductor, delivering maximum ampacity and minimal sag with safety, reliability, longevity, and workability designed in. AECC has been deployed in reconductoring and new lines to facilitate grid modernization with urgency and affordability.

Sustainable water management in naturally deforested regions & proportional accreditation

A UAE Case Study

This research explores the inequities in carbon credit distribution for CO₂ emissions reductions linked to water efficiency initiatives in arid regions, such as the UAE, compared to water-abundant areas. It highlights that despite the greater challenges and investments required for sustainable practices in arid climates, these regions receive the same carbon credits as those with ample water resources. The study proposes a revised carbon credit model aligned with UNFCCC's Article 6, suggesting that arid regions should receive 3 credits per ton of CO₂ sequestered, compared to 1 credit for water-rich regions. Using the UAE as a case study, the research showcases innovative strategies like smart irrigation, treated wastewater reuse, desalination, and afforestation with native species. The findings advocate for global adoption of this proportional credit model to ensure fair carbon credit allocation in water-scarce areas, enhancing equity in global climate action efforts.
