In this session, we will delve into Vega's successful deployment of over 500 pressure transmitters at a major hydrogen refueling station in France, which have been operational for more than seven years without gold-plated diaphragms. Despite hydrogen's unique properties that can compromise measurement accuracy and cause hydrogen embrittlement in materials like Hastelloy, Vega's Vegabar 82/83 dry cell pressure transmitters have demonstrated exceptional performance. Unlike the widely marketed gold-plated diaphragm solution, which is necessary only for a limited number of extreme temperature applications, Vegabar 82/83 provides reliable hydrogen pressure measurement. The presentation will explore the advantages of dry cell measurement technology in hydrogen-rich environments.

Lithium ion has become an essential part of the renewable energy ecosystem, however how much damage is the process of manufacturing, recycling and landfilling causing.  Bilal will discuss the true cost and impact of this as the world continues to deploy larger system in particular with the onset of utility and EV deployments.  Bilal will discuss the unique features of supercap which is almost 100% recyclable and 80% biodegradable with a deferred life in some instances of over 60 years.  He will also discuss the importance of moving away from harmful chemical batteries in order to maintain a true sustainability.

Power-to-gas (PtG) technology, which converts green electricity into hydrogen or methane via electrolysis, offers a promising solution. This gas can be stored, transported, and used flexibly, utilising existing gas infrastructures. PtG serves as a key link between electricity and gas systems, enabling CO2-free energy generation and enhancing renewable energy integration. A UAE Case Study

This research explores the inequities in carbon credit distribution for CO₂ emissions reductions linked to water efficiency initiatives in arid regions, such as the UAE, compared to water-abundant areas. It highlights that despite the greater challenges and investments required for sustainable practices in arid climates, these regions receive the same carbon credits as those with ample water resources. The study proposes a revised carbon credit model aligned with UNFCCC's Article 6, suggesting that arid regions should receive 3 credits per ton of CO₂ sequestered, compared to 1 credit for water-rich regions. Using the UAE as a case study, the research showcases innovative strategies like smart irrigation, treated wastewater reuse, desalination, and afforestation with native species. The findings advocate for global adoption of this proportional credit model to ensure fair carbon credit allocation in water-scarce areas, enhancing equity in global climate action efforts.
