Mr. Pedro joined DNV in 2012, after working at CERN, Switzerland, in the High Voltage (HV) unit of the electrical department responsible by reinforcing the power grid for the physics experiments on course or planned, as well as for the maintenance of the HV and MV internal electrical networks of the institution.
Prior to that, Mr. Pedro worked for the Portuguese DSO, EDP Distribuição, now E-Redes, in the planning department. Since he joined DNV, he has been engaged in failure investigations, system-wide (grid blackouts), at substation or power plant level or asset-related. On the latter, Mr. Pedro has been investigating failures in power transformers, power cables and accessories, switchgear and solar inverters.
As part of its commitments, Mr. Pedro is also engaged on electrical design reviews, as well as the modelling and simulations of power systems.
Furthermore, Mr. Pedro often participates in technical due diligences for financing and M&A related with T&D assets and generation sites. Mr. Pedro has experience in renewables integration, both solar and wind, technical support for grid connection of large customers, supervision of heat-rate and start-up tests at thermal power plants, asset inspection and condition assessment, technical advisory for tenders and regulatory/market studies.
Presently, Mr. Pedro is part of the Cigré Joint Working Group B2/B1.90 on transition facilities, leading the task group looking at the general design of such installations.
