Wietse ter Veld is a mechanical engineer and energy transition advisor with over 30 years of international experience across oil & gas, power, hydrogen, CCUS and low-carbon infrastructure. He is Founder and Principal Consultant of DecarboNexus, advising developers, industrial companies and investors on technology selection, systems integration, project development and techno-economic assessment.

Previously, Wietse was a Green Hydrogen & Renewables SME with AtkinsRéalis in Abu Dhabi and spent 22 years with SLB/Schlumberger in engineering, project management and operations across major international energy projects.

His recent work focuses on hydrogen and Power-to-X systems, CCUS and carbon storage, industrial decarbonisation, renewable integration and the development of technically and commercially credible low-carbon projects across the Middle East and Europe.

Wietse is an active contributor to several industry technical conferences, having spoken at the World Utilities Congress in 2024 and 2025, with a further paper accepted for 2027.
