H.E. Samir Valiyev is the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a position he has held since 2017. Born in Baku in 1962, he graduated from Kiev State University in 1984 with a specialization in International Economic Relations and English Translation. From 1984 to 1992, he was engaged in academic work at the Azerbaijan State Economic University. Over the course of his career, H.E. Samir Valiyev has held a number of senior roles across various government ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of State Property, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Economy and Industry, and Ministry of Economy. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the medal “For Merits in Civil Service” by Presidential Order No. 798 in 2014. He holds the academic title of Candidate in Economic Sciences. He is married and has two children.
